As with other local authorities in the UK, Warrington Borough Council were faced with the challenge of reviewing the previous pay and grading structure within the council to arrive at an updated structure that would comply with the requirements of Single Status agreement. Warrington purchased both the Pay Modeller and Equal Pay Reviewer software at the outset of their Reward Project.
Equal pay is an important consideration for any organisation but large public sector organisations must be particularly careful to ensure that all staff are paid equally, regardless of gender, ethnicity, location or age. Pay discrimination is rarely deliberate, but litigation against local councils can damage reputations and cost thousands. Gloucestershire County Council wanted to ensure that it's employees were being paid equally across the organisation and that there was no room for discrepancies between Directorates. To assist with this, the Council rolled out Evaluate from NorthgateArinso Reward Solutions at the start of 2007.
In 2006 Jewel & Esk College made a commitment to review pay and grading with the joint aims of ensuring the structures were fair and equitable whilst at the same time validating the existing single pay spine structure.
When Torfaen Borough Council embarked on its Single Status implementation, there was a need to use the right systems to bring accuracy and efficiency to the task. For both the job evaluation and pay modelling exercises, systems were needed that could support the Council’s objective of achieving Single Status by October 2008. For these reasons, the Council selected the computerised Job Evaluation scheme and Pay Modeller software from NorthgateArinso Reward Solutions.
Arup’s HR team found that, with a growing global workforce, they were faced with an increasingly complex rewards management challenge. Leicestershire Constabulary decided to conduct an Equal Pay Audit to demonstrate best practice in diversity and work within a legal framework. As an Employer of Choice within the police service, the key drivers for the audit were to ensure that their pay system was equitable and free from unintended bias. NorthgateArinso Reward Solutions worked with Leicestershire Constabulary to carry out the Equal Pay Audit using our Equal Pay Reviewer software and the expertise of our reward consultants.
